KOTRA held K-Tech Partnership Day on the 4th (local time) in Silicon Valley, the birthplace of innovation.
KOTRA organized the event to review export-focused tech companies’ business results in the United States this year and identify new opportunities. The event’s slogan, “Here’s Your Tomorrow,” conveyed the message that entering global markets, including the United States, is essential for Korean export-focused tech companies to reach the next stage of growth.
The event brought together 25 export-focused tech companies and featured an innovation trade fair, technology pitches and a networking reception.
The Innovation Fair featured 25 export-focused tech companies across four fields reflecting current Silicon Valley trends: artificial intelligence, mobility, semiconductors, and digital devices such as AR/VR. One participating company that produces industrial high-pressure gases, including gases for the semiconductor industry, secured a contract with a local buyer to supply nitrous oxide (N2O).
Fourteen companies took part in the technology pitches. Presentations included technology that analyzes breathing sounds via smartphone to assess disease severity and autonomous robot solutions for more efficient e-commerce logistics, drawing a strong response.
Finally, the networking reception drew around 200 buyers and investors, including representatives from local tech giants such as Google and Apple, as well as participating Korean companies. Attendees also explored new opportunities for U.S.-Korea partnerships.
As the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced at the second public-private meeting on export expansion measures on November 8, KOTRA is stepping up its efforts to operate K-Tech Camp to help export-focused tech companies expand overseas. K-Tech Camp is a comprehensive hub that expands services using KOTRA trade offices to support Korean export-focused tech companies’ overseas expansion. Starting in Silicon Valley, the program is expected to expand gradually to regions around the world with thriving startup ecosystems, including Paris.
KOTRA President Yoo Jeong-yeol said, “At K-Tech Camp, export-focused tech companies can receive not only infrastructure support but also a broad range of services needed to establish a local presence, including setting up a corporation and recruiting talent. We hope many Korean export-focused tech companies will make use of the program.”
