Samsung Electronics showcased HVAC products tailored to North America and AI-based integrated device management at the AHR Expo, North America’s largest HVAC trade show, held in Las Vegas from the 2nd to the 4th.
The AHR Expo, organized by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), brings together more than 1,800 global companies each year to present their latest products and technologies.
At this year’s show, Samsung set up a 350-square-meter (about 3,770-square-foot) exhibition space under the theme “Enabling Better Living,” unveiling a broad lineup of HVAC products for homes and commercial spaces.
Featured products included △the Hylex R454B outdoor unit, which applies inverter technology to unitary systems commonly used in North American homes △the Mono R32 lineup of residential heat pump-based EHS products, which provide efficient heating and hot water across a range of climates △the DVM S2+, a large-capacity system air conditioner that learns its surroundings with AI to deliver optimized solutions △Bespoke AI WindFree air conditioners.
These products use refrigerants with low global warming potential (GWP) in response to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) refrigerant transition regulations.
※ GWP (Global Warming Potential): A measure of the degree to which a substance contributes to global warming, based on carbon dioxide’s impact.
The Hylex R454B uses R454B refrigerant, which has about 78% lower GWP than the existing R410A refrigerant. The Mono R32 HT Quiet and DVM S2+ use R32 refrigerant, which has about 68% lower GWP than R410A.
Samsung also created a space where visitors could experience SmartThings Pro, an AI-based B2B solution that centrally manages building devices and reduces energy use.
SmartThings Pro is an AI-based B2B solution that delivers high energy efficiency and integrated space management tailored to different settings and purposes, including homes, offices and commercial buildings.
Users can remotely control devices installed across multiple spaces with SmartThings Pro. If a product develops a fault or its performance declines, they can also receive systematic guidance on maintenance, inspections and repairs to resolve the issue quickly.
The SmartThings Pro Dashboard also gives users an at-a-glance view of real-time energy use, energy-saving insights and routine-based automation features.
Samsung also set up a display space resembling a real home, where visitors could experience how SmartThings-connected appliances make daily life more convenient and help care for the home environment.
Visitors could try △automation that uses SmartThings linked to a door lock to detect when a user arrives home, then automatically turn on the lights and open the curtains △Quick Remote, which lets users conveniently control nearby appliances with a phone without a separate remote △AI Energy Mode, which monitors power use and optimizes electricity consumption.
Samsung established a joint venture in 2024 with U.S. HVAC company Lennox to expand its presence in North America. Last year, it acquired FläktGroup, Europe’s largest HVAC company, further strengthening its global heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) business.
FläktGroup has an extensive sales and service network across Europe and the Americas, as well as in the Middle East and Asia. It is expanding its global influence, including through participation in Stargate, a large-scale global AI infrastructure project.
Samsung also operates test labs in diverse environments around the world, including Sweden and Japan, to develop high-efficiency, high-performance HVAC solutions.
“At this exhibition, visitors can experience not only the performance of individual HVAC products but also powerful heating and cooling and efficient energy management powered by AI and connectivity in spaces designed to resemble real-world settings,” said Lim Sung-taek, executive vice president of Samsung Electronics’ DA Business. “We will strengthen our leadership in the global HVAC market through innovations optimized for spaces of different types and purposes.”
