Taihan Cable & Solution said on the 6th that it participated in 2026 IEEE PES T&D, held May 4–7 in Chicago, Illinois. IEEE PES T&D is a major global power industry trade show attended by power equipment companies, utilities and related organizations from around the world. It is the largest power infrastructure exhibition in the United States, bringing together the latest transmission and distribution technologies and solutions.

At the exhibition, Taihan Cable & Solution showcased a range of strategic products, including HVDC and submarine cables and solutions for replacing aging power grids. The company focused its display on areas of growing demand in North America to identify concrete business opportunities.

The company highlighted its HVDC capabilities. Its displays included 525-kV-class HVDC underground cables, as well as 320-kV-class cables for which it has secured orders in the United States, and 525-kV-class HVDC submarine cables that could be used in South Korea’s West Coast Energy Highway project. These products demonstrated its competitiveness in technologies for next-generation power grids.

Taihan Cable & Solution also presented its submarine cable investments and end-to-end solution capabilities. Alongside key submarine cable projects secured and carried out in South Korea and overseas, it shared details on the production capacity and construction progress of its second submarine cable plant in Dangjin, which is scheduled for completion in 2027. The company also introduced PALOS, a cable-laying vessel dedicated to offshore wind projects and active in South Korea’s offshore wind market, and Taihan Ocean Works, its specialist submarine cable installation subsidiary.

Its solutions for replacing aging power grids also drew visitors’ interest. The technology increases transmission capacity by using existing conduits, and is expected to see strong demand in the United States, where aging power infrastructure is widespread. Drawing on its project experience and technological capabilities, Taihan Cable & Solution held consultations tailored to customers’ needs.

Vice Chairman Jong-min Song visited the exhibition and, together with employees of Taihan Cable & Solution’s U.S. subsidiary, met with representatives of major North American utilities and business partners to discuss ongoing projects and future cooperation.

“The North American market is growing rapidly as investment in power grids expands alongside the spread of renewable energy,” Song said. “Building on our experience and track record in the United States, we will continue to grow our results in key areas, including HVDC, submarine cables and solutions for aging power grids.”

Before the exhibition, Taihan Cable & Solution also took part in the Insulated Conductors Committee (ICC), held April 26–29 in California. The ICC is a leading power grid conference in North America.

Meanwhile, industry estimates put annual U.S. electricity demand at about 4,100 TWh in 2024, with demand expected to exceed 5,000 TWh by 2030, driven in part by advances in AI and the expansion of data centers. As a result, business opportunities are expected to grow in new grid construction and the replacement of aging power grids.
