Vine Company, a startup that manufactures paper ice packs, announced on the 30th that it has launched a new product containing “Patented Greenie” (patent No. 10-2067215), a plant nutrient made with eco-friendly ingredients.

Vine Company has produced more than 100 million paper ice packs, which are currently used by some 300 companies, including Coupang, Woowa Brothers and Gmarket.

Vine Company CEO Dandelion Min said, “We collaborated with Healthyplant, a specialist company that holds invention patents for Type 4 compound fertilizer and soil amendments, to launch a new ice pack containing natural ingredients under the brand name ‘Patented Greenie.’”

Unlike conventional ice packs that use superabsorbent polymer, a microplastic, or vinyl, Vine Company is a specialist paper ice-pack maker that was the first in the world to develop a nature-friendly product made entirely from water, paper and an oxidatively biodegradable film.

CEO Min explained the background to the launch: “As a homemaker, I felt it was such a waste to throw away even a drop of water from inside a paper ice pack. That led us to develop the Greenie ice pack, which contains a nutrient that helps plants grow and ingredients that can be used to wash them.” She added, “The new ice pack’s contents contain no chemical compounds. It is a plant-washing nutrient made from natural substances. Because it consists of natural ingredients and fully decomposes after use, it causes no water or soil pollution. Its eco-friendly ingredients are harmless to people and livestock.”

In particular, the ingredients in the “Patented Greenie” ice pack contain a balanced blend of the macro- and micronutrients plants need to grow, including nitrogen, phosphate and potassium, helping weakened plants and a variety of other plants grow healthily. When applied as a foliar spray and used to wash plants two or three times, it dissolves and removes soot and other pollutants that adhere to plant surfaces and block their pores, promoting normal respiration and metabolic processes.
