AI-based road data specialist DariSoft*= has been selected for an AI road management pilot program jointly organized by the New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) and global VC firm Newlab. Selected from a competitive field of startups worldwide, DariSoft has earned international recognition for its technology.
The project aims to address inefficiencies in road infrastructure maintenance in New York City. The city has about 9,600 kilometers of roads and numerous transportation assets, but managing critical infrastructure such as speed limit signs has remained dependent on manual inspections.
DariSoft will use its road hazard information-sharing solution, 'RiaaS', to detect and manage speed limit signs across New York City in real time. AI-powered devices installed in vehicles automatically detect the condition of signs and send the data to a server. This will significantly improve the efficiency of inspections and increase the reliability of traffic enforcement.
DariSoft CEO Noh Yun-sun said, "It is deeply meaningful for a Korean company to be selected for a global project in New York City." She added, "This will be a pivotal turning point in setting a new standard for traffic safety in New York through AI-powered solutions and expanding them to major cities around the world."
