Hyundai Motor Company held “The all-new TUCSON World Premiere” in New York on the 1st, unveiling the TUCSON to global media and influencers and sharing its competitive strengths in the compact SUV market and the brand’s vision.

The event marked the global debut of the TUCSON’s design and product features. The model has established itself as a global bestseller in the compact SUV market. Hyundai also used the event to present its brand vision and future direction.

Set against the New York skyline, the event featured a runway-style stage that brought the TUCSON’s guiding value of “Boldness” to life.

From a ferry ride to the venue to the vehicle reveal and exhibition content, Hyundai gave attendees multiple ways to experience the TUCSON brand, offering global media and influencers a distinctive brand experience.

In his keynote address, Hyundai Motor Company President and CEO José Muñoz emphasized the TUCSON’s strategic importance to Hyundai’s global growth momentum.

“Millions of families around the world trust and choose the Hyundai TUCSON, and this new model is the best TUCSON we’ve ever made,” José Muñoz said. “With its bold design, spacious interior, smart infotainment and efficient hybrid technology, it will set a new standard in the segment.”

He also said, “Starting with the TUCSON, we plan to launch more than 100 new and facelifted models worldwide by 2030, including 58 new models in North America alone.”

Hyundai then introduced the TUCSON’s product features to the global media and influencers attending the event.

Alongside the TUCSON’s bold design, Hyundai showcased its next-generation hybrid system, built around “Intelligent Efficiency” to deliver both performance and efficiency, as well as Pleos Connect, which embodies “Everyday Progress” by continually enhancing everyday life.

Hyundai also outlined how the TUCSON’s powertrain and trim offerings will vary according to each market and country.

Based on Hyundai’s “Art of Steel” design philosophy, the TUCSON features a bold design that gives steel’s strength a modern interpretation.

Its larger body than the previous model (4,700 mm long and 1,905 mm wide) provides best-in-class interior space. H-Edge lighting that emphasizes horizontal proportions and 3D floating prism rear lamps complete its futuristic look.

Hybrid-specific features further enhance the electrified driving experience. These include Stay Mode, which lets occupants use the climate control and infotainment systems while parked with the engine off, much like in an electric vehicle.

The TUCSON will be the first Hyundai SUV equipped with Pleos Connect, based on Android Automotive OS (AAOS). Gleo AI, an AI agent powered by a large language model (LLM), supports natural conversational interaction for everything from vehicle controls to information searches. The Pleos App Market will also offer a range of third-party services.

In North America, Hyundai plans to offer gasoline and hybrid powertrains, along with the XRT PRO model, which is engineered for enhanced off-road performance. Exclusive to North America, the XRT PRO features off-road equipment including all-wheel drive (AWD), all-terrain tires and increased ground clearance. In Korea, a separate XRT trim will emphasize rugged off-road styling with features such as skid plates and wheel-arch cladding.

In Korea, the TUCSON will be available with two powertrains: a 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine and a 1.6-liter turbo hybrid. The hybrid model features Hyundai Motor Group’s next-generation hybrid system, delivering a maximum system output of 245 PS and a combined fuel economy of 17.4 km/L.

Hyundai will also unveil a Europe-specific TUCSON, optimized for the European market, at the Paris Motor Show in Paris on October 12. The company plans to diversify the TUCSON lineup to reflect regional market needs and accelerate its global expansion.

Hyundai said the world premiere was an opportunity for the TUCSON to reaffirm the brand’s competitiveness on the global stage, adding that it will continue to grow global TUCSON sales with strategies tailored to regional markets.

Hyundai previously gave Korean customers an early look at the TUCSON at “The all-new TUCSON Media Day,” held on September 18 at CJ ENM Studio Center in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.

Hyundai plans to announce the TUCSON’s price in October and begin full-scale sales in Korea.
