CreateTrip, which operates a domestic travel information platform for international visitors, announced on the 18th that it will launch “Korea Direct,” a purchasing service that helps international customers conveniently buy Korean products.
The service is designed to make it as easy for customers abroad to shop for Korean products as it is for local residents.
Customers can submit a URL and photo of a Korean product that ships internationally through the CreateTrip app or website to request a purchase. They can then receive an upfront estimate of the total cost, including shipping.
CreateTrip takes responsibility for finding and purchasing customers’ requested products, inspecting them, and arranging delivery. The service also supports preorders and restock alerts for sold-out items, and provides a multilingual customer service center in real time.
To mark the launch of Korea Direct, CreateTrip has also introduced a service in which overseas marketers in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada, Thailand, and other markets select and sell popular Korean products in their countries, from fashion accessories and cosmetics to bedding. The company plans to continue offering Korean products at reasonable prices in partnership with local suppliers.
“We received a flood of inquiries from people abroad who couldn’t visit Korea in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so we’re launching first in countries with strong demand,” said Lim Hye-min, CEO of CreateTrip. “We’ll work to provide a service that satisfies users around the world and helps raise Korea’s profile.”
Korea Direct has initially launched in Traditional Chinese for customers in Taiwan and Hong Kong, among other markets. The service is expected to expand to English, Japanese, Thai, and other languages next month.
