Mashup Angels invests seed funding in Turing, operator of Math King

Mashup Angels announced on the 23rd that it has made a seed investment in Turing, which operates the AI-powered online math education service Math King.

Turing is a startup founded in 2018 with the goal of giving students access to affordable tutoring anytime, anywhere. It is led by CEO Min-gyu Choi, a former lead instructor at Teukjadan, an academy specializing in schools for gifted students. After a year of R&D and math content development, the company launched Math King in March this year.

Math King is an AI-powered online math education service that provides one-on-one high school math tutoring via web and app. Its artificial intelligence helps students study personalized problems and lessons tailored to their needs. Through diagnostic tests, Math King analyzes students’ national rankings, areas for improvement, changes in proficiency, and projected scores on the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT). Based on the results, it recommends problems and lessons that reflect each student’s current level, goals, and preferences. The service also offers unlimited practice exams, past exam questions, and lessons, accessible on mobile devices anytime, anywhere at an affordable price.

Turing CEO Min-gyu Choi said, “With this investment, we plan to further refine our algorithms so we can recommend optimal curricula to students. We also plan to step up production of math content so students can learn from high-quality materials.”
