THE.WAVE.TALK announced on the 30th that it raised 2.6 billion won in funding from domestic and international investors in early February.
The round was led by YellowDog and Big Basin Capital, a Silicon Valley-based firm. The funding brings THE.WAVE.TALK’s total raised to approximately 8 billion won. Existing investors include Bluepoint Partners, NAVER, ST Pharm and LB Investment.
THE.WAVE.TALK is a startup that has developed sensing technology for detecting bacteria.
“THE.WAVE.TALK’s vision of becoming the startup that saves the most lives on Earth by solving water quality problems worldwide aligns with YellowDog’s investment philosophy,” said Joo Hyun-joo, CEO of YellowDog. “We invested because we believe THE.WAVE.TALK can use its distinctive technology to address sanitation problems affecting people around the world and deliver broad social impact.”
“THE.WAVE.TALK is a highly capable team that has advanced and commercialized its technology in a short time. It has the potential to drive innovation across all sectors affected by bacteria, including food and pharmaceuticals,” said Pil-gu Yoon, CEO of Big Basin Capital.

“With this investment as a springboard, we will work harder to build a big data network that uses IoT sensors to automatically monitor water quality in every home, and to expand it overseas,” said Young-deok Kim, CEO of THE.WAVE.TALK.
THE.WAVE.TALK plans to complete a test bed in the first half of this year with four local governments—Seoul, Busan, Gwangju and Daegu—to enable automated water quality management in homes using Internet of Things (IoT) sensors. The company also plans to obtain Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Ministry of Food and Drug Safety certifications for its antibiotic testing equipment, including a urine analyzer that uses AI to diagnose urinary tract infections in 20 minutes.
