New Paradigm Investment Co., Ltd. announced on the 6th that it had made a seed investment in SST Company, a startup developing a big data platform for sports science.
Founded in March this year, SST Company is a startup that collects sports science data to provide 3D motion analysis and athlete management systems, along with services in biomechanics, peak performance maintenance and rehabilitation management.
SST Company plans to provide systematic, integrated big data management services using South Korea’s only precision motion-sensor equipment and analysis system, drawing on peak-performance exercise data tailored to analyze the sports movements and posture of both athletes and fitness enthusiasts.
In June, the company also plans to open its first offline sports science center in Apgujeong, equipped with its proprietary 3D motion analysis system, SSTC Motion Analyzer.
“Athletes overseas receive support to manage peak performance through intensive care from experts in exercise, nutrition, rest and psychology,” said SST Company CEO Cho Jun-haeng. “Using our proprietary core 3D motion analysis technology, we plan to offer services that help athletes achieve what they need—‘faster, farther, higher.’ Within the next three years, we aim to become South Korea’s leading sports science big data platform.”
“The growth potential of the home fitness market and SST Company’s outstanding big data analytics capabilities were the reasons behind our investment,” said New Paradigm Investment CEO Park Je-hyun. “CEO Cho Jun-haeng is one of South Korea’s leading developers in sports science, and we expect SST Company to grow into a global company on the strength of its big data-based sports science technology.”
