Twigfarm, an AI natural language processing company, announced on the 24th that it had secured a pre-Series A investment from the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund (KODIT). The company previously received investment from Sunbo Angel Partners.

Twigfarm is known as a Korean startup that outperformed Google in machine translation quality for Korean-English legal content, earning certification from the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA).

Using AI natural language processing technology, Twigfarm operates GCON Studio, a project management solution for translation companies, and HeyBunny, a convenient email-based translation service for clients.

GCON Studio automates about 40% of translation project management, boosting productivity and freeing up more time for translation. Its AI-powered translation quality checker reviews translated documents, helping providers deliver higher-quality services to clients.

HeyBunny works on both desktop and mobile: users send content that needs translation and receive the translated text by email. It can be used anywhere email is available, without installing a program.

This investment will help Twigfarm take another step toward becoming Asia’s leading natural language processing company. For four years, Twigfarm has focused its research efforts on building data sourcing, preprocessing, validation, and processing workflows for specialized translation fields, as well as developing an algorithm that best understands Korean. Last year, the company acquired communication design firm Supersquare to significantly improve the usability of its solutions and services.

Twigfarm CEO Baek Seon-ho said, “We’re grateful to have secured investment during the difficult times brought on by COVID-19. The translation industry is struggling, as are many others. Translation companies and the freelancers who work with them are facing a particularly difficult period. We hope our solutions can help them through these challenging times.”
