Bepro11, a next-generation soccer analytics platform, announced on the 11th that it had raised $10 million (approximately KRW 12 billion) in funding.
The investment included Altos Ventures, SoftBank Ventures, Saehan Ventures, SpringCamp and Mirae Asset Venture Investment. It follows a KRW 10 billion ($8.6 million) round in July 2018.
The investment drew strong support from investors, who recognized Bepro’s technology and growth potential despite the coronavirus pandemic halting most soccer leagues and causing ongoing hardship across the global sports industry.
Founded in 2015, Bepro11 is a Korean soccer analytics company headquartered in Hamburg, Germany. It applies AI to match footage captured by specialized cameras installed at stadiums to identify and analyze every play. The company’s platform automatically provides players and teams with high-quality data and video.
Recently, Bepro has used AI tracking and live-streaming technology to help coaches and analysts assess matches in real time and make tactical adjustments. It currently serves more than 700 teams worldwide, including clubs in Europe’s top leagues, such as the EPL, Bundesliga and Serie A.
Bepro11 plans to use the funding to further develop its AI-based soccer analytics technology and expand its presence in global markets. It will focus particularly on Europe, the heart of the soccer industry, and on developing technology that can make a tangible contribution to teams’ success and growth.
“New technologies are driving major changes in the sports industry, and we’re now better positioned to strengthen Bepro’s place at the forefront of this transformation,” said Bepro CEO Kang Hyun-wook. “We’re pleased to keep improving our platform and deliver greater value to customers during this challenging time.”
