Job & Partner, operator of Ilgaja, a contactless platform that connects businesses with on-site workers, announced on the 6th that it had raised a pre-Series A round from Pathfinder H and Sematranslink Investment.
Since launching on August 1, 2019, Ilgaja has attracted 8,000 day laborers and successfully arranged 25,000 job placements in 11 months.
A key factor behind the investment was the company’s potential to become a game changer in the contactless labor-matching market, as monthly revenue has grown 15% amid rising demand for remote staffing services during the COVID-19 pandemic. The investment amount was not disclosed by mutual agreement.
“We were drawn to Ilgaja’s new approach to labor matching: it uses technology to eliminate information asymmetry in the early-morning labor market and illegal practices such as wage arrears, which sometimes occur during the placement process. Workers can commute directly from home to job sites based on their location, instead of gathering before dawn, supporting their health and well-being,” said Kim Cheol-soo, team lead at Pathfinder H, which participated in the investment. “Despite the early stage of the business and the COVID-19 outbreak, the number of employers and job seekers, placements, and transaction value have all continued to grow. We see a bright future for the service.”
“We will rethink and fundamentally transform a day-labor placement system that has remained unchanged for 80 years, and grow into a trusted contactless platform for on-site labor in the post-COVID era,” said Park Jong-il, CEO of Job & Partner. He added that the investment will be used to enhance the matching system and expand Ilgaja nationwide.
