Triple announced on the 23rd that it has introduced a “places along the route” recommendation service, suggesting attractions and restaurants worth visiting along the way. Unlike international trips, which travelers tend to plan carefully because of language barriers and unfamiliar local conditions, domestic trips often involve setting only a few main destinations and deciding the rest on the fly. The service was developed with this in mind.
Most place recommendation services suggest nearby spots based on a specific location. Triple’s service is different: it recommends places to stop along a travel route. When users enter their starting point and destination in Triple, the route appears on a map, along with restaurants, cafes, and attractions between the two locations, ranked by popularity.
The service is expected to make trips easier and more efficient by recommending attractions to visit along the way to a planned destination, or popular restaurants to stop at when it’s time to eat. It will launch first in Jeju, with a gradual rollout to other cities across South Korea.
Triple is also expanding its domestic travel services ahead of the summer vacation season, launching offerings for Gangwon Province, including Gangneung and Sokcho. After covering more than 200 international cities, Triple began offering domestic travel services with Jeju and has continued to evolve its platform by adding features such as AI-powered travel recommendations and a user community.
“We are rolling out a series of services to help travelers enjoy convenient trips in step with rapidly changing travel trends,” said Triple CEO Kim Yeon-jeong. “As the prolonged COVID-19 situation is expected to bring about travel patterns that differ from those of the past, we will expand the cities covered by our domestic services and continue developing our offerings to meet a variety of travel needs.”
Triple is a travel platform that uses big data to provide personalized content on domestic and international attractions, restaurants, and shopping, as well as travel products such as flights, hotels, tours, and tickets. It provides real-time travel information on 1.1 million places in more than 200 cities worldwide, tailored to travelers’ locations and routes.
