Global parenting brand Konny by Erin announced on the 10th that it had won an award in the Brand & Communication Design category at the prestigious 2020 Red Dot Design Award.
Considered one of the world’s three major design awards, the Red Dot Design Award recognizes outstanding design across three categories: Product Design, Brand & Communication Design, and Design Concept. Entries are judged on excellence, creativity, functionality, and other criteria. This year, around 7,000 entries from 45 countries competed.
The Brand & Communication Design award recognizes brands that communicate a distinctive philosophy and values alongside their product design. Konny Baby Carrier was the first sling baby carrier in the world to receive the award. The judges praised its clean design and excellent quality, which combine practicality and convenience, as well as its candid brand messaging that boosts parents’ confidence and self-esteem when wearing the carrier.
Weighing just 160–200 grams, the Konny Baby Carrier is lighter than a bath towel. To improve the product, the company makes it with fabric it developed in-house and was the first in Korea’s sling baby carrier industry to sew it with premium core-spun thread, which is 1.5 times stronger than regular thread. The company has documented its development process on its website, communicated openly with customers, and incorporated their feedback to improve product quality. This has helped build a strong following for the Konny Baby Carrier among customers worldwide.
“Drawing on our experience with childbirth and parenting, we designed our carrier with both comfort and style in mind, while considering its design and functionality,” said Lim Yi-rang, CEO of Konny by Erin. “We will continue to connect with customers through products that resonate with parents around the world, guided by a brand philosophy that reflects Konny by Erin’s values.”
