Venture capital firm Capstone Partners announced on the 27th that it had invested KRW 1 billion in Neubility, a startup developing software for last-mile autonomous delivery robots.

Founded in 2017, Neubility develops software for last-mile autonomous robots, which have drawn attention with the recent emergence of delivery robots. The company holds patents covering ultra-precise map data and route-finding technology needed to deliver goods to end users. Its technology enables autonomous robots to operate accurately and reliably, earning recognition in the industry.

Demand for autonomous driving is also rising as the COVID-19 pandemic accelerates the shift to contactless services, and Neubility is expected to grow even faster. With this investment from Capstone Partners, Neubility plans to focus on autonomous driving software R&D while expanding into platform development using mobile apps and efforts to build its own logistics delivery system.

Oh Jong-wook, a director at Capstone Partners who led the investment, said, “Neubility is at the forefront of autonomous robot software research in Korea.” He added that the company’s strength lies in its localization technology, a core component of autonomous robot operations, which combines greater precision and cost-effectiveness than competing technologies.

Neubility CEO Lee Sang-min said, “We plan to use this investment to actively recruit talent and strengthen our R&D capabilities in autonomous robots.” He added, “We will accelerate technology development and lead logistics innovation in the last-mile sector through the use of robots.”

Neubility completed a KRW 1.4 billion pre-Series A funding round this month, with investors including Capstone Partners, FuturePlay and Shinhan Capital. It previously received seed funding from the Yoon Min Chang Creative Foundation in 2017 and from FuturePlay and Mando in 2019.
