Video technology startup Jocoos announced on the 23rd that it is launching streaming and event management services for large-scale live online events and webinars.

Founded by former framework researchers at TmaxSoft and KT Cloudware, along with video technology experts, Jocoos launched Korea’s first live commerce app and web service, “MyViewTip,” last year. Building on its technology, the company has now launched a service that lets thousands of people attend live online events at the same time.

Jocoos’ SaaS software, “FLIPFLOP,” compresses and converts ultra-high-definition video to up to one-twentieth of its original size without loss of quality, and reliably streams two or more videos simultaneously without interruption. It also offers live video meetings and lets users send and receive data while watching video, making it suitable for webinars of various formats and sizes.

Under a contract with Herald Corp. to provide live online streaming and event management, Jocoos plans to use its webinar service for the “Herald Design Forum 2020,” to be held on October 22. Thousands of paid participants are expected to attend simultaneously. The service will support live talks and Q&A sessions with speakers from Korea and abroad, and let speakers see online participants, creating an in-person atmosphere and enabling two-way communication.

“As the COVID-19 pandemic continues and most events move online, video technology is more important than ever,” said Jocoos CEO Choi Chang-hoon. “We have spent the past 10 years advancing our technology for processing large video files and improving video quality, and we expect to offer a service that combines the convenience of online events with the immediacy of in-person ones.”
