New Paradigm Investment announced on the 8th that it had made a seed investment in Quantum AI Co., a retail tech startup specializing in facial recognition AI.
Quantum AI plans to officially launch its AI-powered offline big data collection and store analytics service for retailers and brands, and commercialize it within the year. The company collects and analyzes a range of data from visitors to O2O stores—including visitor counts, gender, age, emotions, and voice—to build advanced data sets and provide AI-powered insights and predictive services.
Using data analyzed with its facial recognition AI technology and proprietary network modules, businesses can access services for retail trade area analysis, customer response tracking, product recommendations, customization, data consulting, store operations, and product planning.
“We jointly developed a facial recognition algorithm with a Chinese AI specialist,” said Quantum AI CEO Han Sang-hee. “Our differentiated facial recognition AI technology gives us a business model that sets us apart from competitors. We plan to offer a range of modules that improve data accuracy, including customer response tracking, to real estate developers, brokers, property management companies, trade area analysis consultants, and retailers and brands with offline stores.”
“Demand for data on offline foot traffic, gender, and age is high, but a lack of technology to collect it has kept that demand from being met,” said Park Je-hyun, CEO of New Paradigm Investment. “Quantum AI aims to address this using facial recognition AI, its proprietary network modules, and high-end camera equipment. We also determined that retailers and brands, as well as real estate developers, brokers, property management companies, and trade area analysis consultants, have strong demand for this data to make strategic decisions about opening offline stores. That led us to invest.”
