Music data startup Artists Card said on the 3rd that it has added live features to its cover music platform, Coverlala, upgraded the service into an online music concert platform, and changed its name to Artists Card, the company’s name.

The online performance market, which has been growing since 2020, is seeing an accelerated shift online as the pandemic reduces demand for in-person shows. This is blurring the line between digital music streaming and live performances. The music market is shifting toward live-streamed performances and real-time interaction between artists and fans.

As live services such as Clubhouse continue to emerge, Artists Card has launched an online concert app that is drawing attention. Released last November, the Artists Card (formerly Coverlala) app surpassed 200,000 downloads in just three months. Anyone can host a live session through the studio, while listeners can interact with artists, request songs, and send virtual gifts. Real-time live apps such as Hakuna Live and Spoon Radio were already on the market, but Artists Card stands out for its focus on online music concerts.

The artist-only Artists Card Studio page plays a key role. Artists can use it to perform live, chat and take song requests from listeners, and convert gifts they receive into cash. The company has also addressed music copyright issues, a major challenge for the online streaming industry, using data technology that manages copyrights and neighboring rights separately. This allows artists to fully showcase their musical talent on Artists Card, unlike on existing services. Following the launch of its live feature, the platform plans to introduce paid virtual tickets and provide infrastructure for online concert venues, further evolving into a live music platform that bridges online and in-person performances.

“Live performances account for 47% of the overall music market, and the boundary between the performance market and digital streaming is gradually disappearing,” said CEO Jung Yeon-seung. “With no clear leader in the global online performance platform market, we will operate more proactively to become the top player in this emerging market.”

Artists Card launched Classic Manager, a classical music streaming service, in 2017. It surpassed 1 million downloads this January.
