Wizschool, a software creation platform, announced on the 24th that it had raised 3 billion won in a Series A funding round.
New investors Daekyo Investment and F&F Partners participated in the round, alongside follow-on investments from existing investors SpringCamp and Capstone Partners. Wizschool has raised a total of 5.4 billion won to date.
Wizschool is a global IT startup aiming to make software creation accessible to everyone. It offers an all-in-one range of services for software creation, education, distribution and community. The company provides free tools and a publishing space so anyone can easily create their own software, and helps develop software creators through user-friendly content and design. It is now building development and design studios to make creating in the metaverse easier, a move that has drawn praise for its potential to strengthen the company’s business competitiveness.
With the new investment, Wizschool plans to focus on strengthening its global technological competitiveness and business capabilities by developing 3D avatars and creation engines—key elements of the metaverse—building a database of user-related data for its WizLab software development engine, and expanding into overseas markets including China, India and Southeast Asia. It plans to increase its market share in software development and creation platforms.
Kim Beom-jun, director at Daekyo Investment, which led the round, said, “We expect WizLab, which brings together coding education and creation, to grow into a specialized platform and become a key part of the metaverse ecosystem.” He added, “Wizschool has also developed complementary business models to promote software creation, including Wizlive, an online video-based education platform, and Wizclass, which is built around self-directed learning. We expect the company to expand its business and pursue partnerships across a range of areas.”
Yang Young-mo, CEO of Wizschool, said, “Our ultimate goal is to grow WizLab into a global standard platform for software creation and education that leads the metaverse trend.” He added, “Rather than simply consuming the metaverse, users can build it themselves with our software creation engine and platform. We will use these tools to actively develop IT talent and make software creation accessible to everyone.”
