HBsmith, a provider of continuous QA (quality assurance) testing and service monitoring, announced on the 30th that it has raised a Series A round.

The four investors in the round were Intops Investment, Hana Ventures, Findel Mundo Partners, and VentureSquare.

QA testing is essential before and after an online service or application is launched. A feature that worked yesterday may stop working today, and a developer’s code changes can affect multiple features. Even minor errors can affect service reliability, revenue, and customer trust, so testing requires significant time and personnel with strong technical expertise. However, traditional QA testing relies on manually performing simple, repetitive tasks after creating test cases based on anticipated scenarios.

HBsmith was developed to address the challenges of repetitive QA testing and service monitoring using artificial intelligence. As a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution, it requires no installation or coding, keeping initial and maintenance costs low. It registers automated tests based on customers’ test cases and provides all results through a web interface. Customers can identify areas for improvement before launch and quickly detect and fix defects in services already in operation.

Building on these strengths, HBsmith has secured enterprise customers including Lotte e-Commerce and TMAP in Korea and Bizflow overseas. HBsmith’s AI robots run tests on approximately 4,000 test cases for an average of 100,000 hours per month—equivalent to the workload of about 568 human testers.

Kang Byung-sik, head of division at Intops Investment, which participated in the round, cited the company’s ability to “provide uninterrupted QA services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, surpassing human performance,” as well as its track record as a SaaS-based B2B solution with major Korean companies and a large U.S. customer, adding that “rapid growth through global expansion is expected.”

CEO Han Jong-won said, “We aim to break even by 2023 and go public in 2025. Technology is advancing quickly, and companies don’t have the luxury of waiting when they lack personnel. HBsmith will take on the tasks that can be automated and actively support customers in successfully operating their services.”
