Coobuilder, a company builder that nurtures local startups in Vietnam, announced on the 10th that it has opened Coobuilder Startup Center, a coworking space for Korean startups in the country.
Vietnam’s startup ecosystem is considered one of the most promising in Southeast Asia, but it still lacks the infrastructure to support startup growth. Many startups struggle to secure an initial workspace. Global coworking spaces can be expensive, while local ones often have modest facilities and offer few services beyond workspace.
Coobuilder Startup Center is a boutique coworking space in Ho Chi Minh City, established to serve as a hub for Vietnam’s startup ecosystem and strengthen the Korean startup community. Its space is designed to support the growth of startups and freelancers, and its additional services are tailored to startups’ needs. Facilities include about 30 open desks, meeting rooms, personal lockers, a kitchen, and parking. Staff fluent in Vietnamese, English, Chinese, and Korean are on site.
For Korean startups in Vietnam, Korean staff and Vietnamese staff who speak Korean provide hands-on concierge services. The center also offers support tailored to Koreans, including local hiring, visa assistance, and residential real estate services. Members can also use the café, studio, and beauty salon in the same building at discounted rates and receive priority access to Coobuilder’s monthly events. Current members include Coobuilder portfolio companies as well as aspiring entrepreneurs and freelancers from a range of fields.
“Rather than simply providing space, Coobuilder Startup Center is putting more effort into developing services that help minimize the challenges faced by early-stage founders,” said Coobuilder co-founder Lee Juhong. “We hope to create many success stories among the Korean startups based here, helping K-startups become a leading force in Vietnam’s startup ecosystem.”
After opening its first location in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Coobuilder Startup Center is preparing to expand to other cities in Vietnam in the first half of 2022. It also plans to introduce a combined space incorporating a shared studio and a shared beauty salon.
