Return Zero, the AI startup behind VITO, a call app that lets users see conversations, announced on the 23rd that it has updated “Preview,” a feature that lets users review text transcripts of previous calls with an incoming caller before answering.

The feature lets users quickly check their call history and transcripts with a caller before answering, whether or not the caller is saved in their contacts. It is expected to be especially useful for business professionals, such as salespeople and customer service representatives, who handle many calls and rely on call history to respond appropriately.

Previously, incoming calls typically displayed only a phone number unless the caller had already been saved in the user’s contacts, making it difficult to identify who was calling. Even when a number was saved or the caller had set up their information to appear, the phone screen showed only basic details such as a name and contact information.

Phone calls can be a warm way to exchange greetings, but for some people, every call is also an intense part of their work and livelihood. Based on feedback from actual users gathered while operating the service, VITO has introduced “Preview Before Call.”

To use the feature, update the VITO app, tap “Enable Preview Before Call” in the pop-up that appears, and set VITO as the default caller ID app. Users can also enable the feature from the “Preview Before Call” menu in the app’s Settings tab.

Alongside this update, VITO has also made its information about consent to providing data for AI training clearer and more detailed. The company aims to maximize its AI flywheel, a virtuous cycle in which it works with users to improve its speech recognition AI.

Return Zero CEO Lee Chamsol said, “VITO’s technology and services will continue to evolve to meet users’ needs. We will keep working to reduce the hassle of everyday calls, as well as managing business contacts and call records.”
