OpenSky Edu Co., Ltd., which provides platform-based college admissions consulting and mentoring services, announced on the 2nd that it had secured pre-Series A funding. The investment amount was not disclosed. A private investment partnership participated in the round.
OpenSky Edu is a startup standing out in the highly competitive college admissions consulting market with its proprietary platform, which features data-driven mentor-mentee matching, a structured mentor training program, and customized consulting curricula for each mentee.
Recognizing the innovation of its flagship services, “OpenSky” and “Dreaming School,” as well as the company’s vision and growth potential, the Korea Technology Finance Corporation certified it as a venture company in February 2021, eight months after its founding. In March, the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund selected it for its “First Penguin” program.
The company recently brought on marketing expert Yang Seong-wook as chief marketing officer and launched “Open Contents,” an integrated marketing agency, significantly expanding beyond edtech into adtech. It is also actively exploring new business opportunities.
OpenSky Edu plans to use the funds to expand its business beyond its online focus and develop its business model. It is preparing an offline-based new business that will complement its existing model, and recently secured a prime location in Bundang, a major education hub, for an offline base.
OpenSky Edu CEO Yoon Young-joon said, “This investment will help us accelerate preparations for a new service we have been ambitious about launching.” He added, “The new business will be open to customers across a wider range of age groups, and we expect it to expand not only our online and offline presence but also the overall market.”
