Jakdangmoi, which operates the beauty video curation platform Zamface, announced on the 16th that it raised 4.5 billion won in bridge funding from Hi Investment Partners and Daesung Private Equity. With the funding, total investment in Jakdangmoi—which launched Zamface in mid-June 2019—has surpassed 11 billion won.

Zamface is Korea’s only video-focused beauty platform. It has grown rapidly, surpassing 1.8 million cumulative registered users in the two years and eight months since launch. Women from the MZ generation account for about 94% of its users, establishing Zamface as an essential beauty app for this generation.

Zamface has introduced a series of new, innovative features and services, including “Time Jump” and “Face Matching,” powered by AI; “Personal Color Matching,” an AR-based personal color analysis service; and “Jam Feed,” a beauty community for users. These offerings have won over MZ-generation women, who turn to mobile video for information and embrace change and new challenges.

Powered by AI, Time Jump lets users jump directly to the parts of beauty videos they want to watch, substantially easing a common frustration for frequent viewers. Zamface’s “YouTuber Reviews” feature, which groups reviews by YouTubers who used the same product and lets users browse them by color option, has been especially popular with the MZ generation. Its free “Personal Color Matching” service, launched in mid-September last year using AR virtual makeup technology, surpassed 1 million cumulative users within four months. Zamface is also strengthening its beauty community and user reviews as it rapidly develops into a one-stop platform for all things beauty.

With the latest funding, Zamface plans to enhance its features and services to become Korea’s leading comprehensive beauty platform, while stepping up user marketing to build mainstream brand awareness.

Noh Kyung-wook, a director at Hi Investment Partners, which participated in the investment, explained the rationale: “Zamface targets the MZ generation with powerful video-focused convenience and social features that set it apart from existing beauty apps. We believe it has significant potential to expand into commerce and grow into Korea’s leading beauty platform.”
