More than 10,000 Korean-owned dry cleaners across the United States to unite under a single brand and become one online, on-demand laundry service company
The Korean American Dry Cleaners Association said on the 8th that, at its executive committee’s regular meeting held from the 4th to the 6th at the DoubleTree Hotel in Fort Lee, New Jersey, it named New Jersey-based marketing firm East Orion Inc. as a partner in advancing Korean American dry-cleaning businesses. The association agreed to actively support East Orion as it establishes and operates a single-brand, online, on-demand laundry service company bringing together more than 10,000 Korean American dry-cleaning businesses.
East Orion and the association signed a memorandum of understanding on the 6th. Under the agreement, East Orion will establish an online, on-demand laundry service company within three months, while the association will help Korean American dry-cleaning business owners register their shops as partner locations and participate in the new company.
The initiative is a joint effort by East Orion Inc. and the association to increase revenue and support the growth of Korean American dry-cleaning businesses. The two sides plan to △ support the launch, within three months, of a single-brand online, on-demand laundry service company serving the United States through an app, and △ plan and carry out joint marketing to grow the struggling Korean American dry-cleaning business sector.

Lee Dong-il, president of the Korean American Dry Cleaners Association, said, “Through this agreement, we will actively support cooperation between Korean-owned dry cleaners and the new online, on-demand laundry service company being established with East Orion under a single brand. This goes beyond simply offering assistance: registering shops as partners in the new company is expected to increase their sales and profits.”
Thomas Park, co-CEO of East Orion, said, "Bringing more than 10,000 Korean-owned dry cleaners together under a single brand as one on-demand laundry service company is unprecedented in American business history. The new online, on-demand laundry service company, which will launch in three months, will become a global company with more than 10,000 garment-cleaning plants and pickup and delivery hubs across the United States. We will carry forward the remarkable achievement Korean immigrants have built in the American dry-cleaning market over the past 100 years of Korean immigration."
Park added that the company also looks forward to working with Korean online, on-demand laundry service companies in the same industry that want to enter the U.S. laundry market, which is expected to post remarkable growth over the next five years.
East Orion, founded in 2016, is a marketing company and subsidiary of startup media company K Startup Valley. It has worked with leading global marketing firms in New York on U.S. crowdfunding campaigns through platforms such as Kickstarter and Indiegogo, Amazon marketing, and press release distribution to prominent U.S. universities, media outlets, and broadcasters.
