Sandbox Network, a leading digital entertainment company in the MCN industry, announced on the 2nd a strategic equity investment in full-service entertainment company Angry Dogs.

Angry Dogs represents comedian Lee Kyung-kyu, comedian Cho Hye-ryun, actress Lee Ye-rim, Lee Joo-ye, and fashion designer Choi Bum-seok. In addition to talent management, it plans and produces its own video content. Through its subsidiary Angry Pets, it also actively operates Interpark Pet, a pet-focused shopping mall with 220,000 members.

Sandbox said it made the investment to expand business cooperation with Angry Dogs after signing a memorandum of understanding in January. The investment will lay the groundwork for digital content collaborations with Lee Kyung-kyu, one of Korea’s leading comedians and co-CEO of Angry Dogs, and accelerate cross-media strategies linking legacy and digital media.

The companies also plan to step up collaboration on pet-related content and commerce. Sandbox owns the pet-commerce brand Noochi Sanghoe and represents many top creators covering pet-related content. It expects to generate greater synergies by working with Lee Kyung-kyu, a beloved dog owner with experience developing and selling mega-hit products based on his own intellectual property.

Sandbox CEO Lee Pil-sung said, “Angry Dogs is a prestigious entertainment company that represents many well-known entertainers and celebrities, including Lee Kyung-kyu, one of Korea’s top comedians and content creators, who is both a represented entertainer and the company’s CEO.” He added, “We saw tremendous potential in the digital content market and countless opportunities to build with Sandbox.”
