Hyosung TNS announced on the 17th that it showcased its latest self-checkout solution, JetCheck™, at NRF 2024, held in New York from the 14th to the 16th.

NRF, launched in 2013, is the world’s largest annual retail trade show. More than 1,000 companies from around the world take part, showcasing new technologies and products and offering a glimpse of the latest retail trends.

JetCheck™, unveiled by Hyosung TNS at the show, is a self-checkout system designed to provide a seamless payment experience and help retailers run their stores. The solution combines hardware manufacturing with software tailored to consumers.

Hyosung TNS, a leading ATM provider in South Korea and several other countries, is expanding into the self-checkout market by drawing on its expertise in financial IT.

Since 2020, the company has supplied self-checkout kiosks to major retailers in South Korea, including Shinsegae and E-Mart, as well as health and beauty stores such as CJ Olive Young. It began expanding its self-checkout business in the United States in 2023.

JetCheck™ comes in three models—C (Cash), X (eXpress) and E (Entry)—to suit store size and customer needs.

The flagship C model supports cash, card and mobile payments, and includes functions such as weighing, loyalty rewards and store promotions. The other models offer scaled-down features and footprints to suit different store sizes.

Hyosung TNS also showcased a product equipped with AI Vision, a solution developed in collaboration with Shinsegae I&C, a retail technology specialist. AI Vision helps prevent irregular transactions in advance, including missed scans and theft.

“This event gave many people the chance to learn about our innovative retail solutions,” said Hyosung TNS CEO Son Hyun-sik. “We will work to lead the U.S. market not only in ATMs but also in self-checkout solutions through JetCheck™.”

According to RBR, a consultancy and research firm specializing in payments, the global self-checkout market is growing rapidly each year and is expected to reach $3.8 billion (about 5 trillion won) by 2027.

Hyosung TNS’s medium- to long-term goal is to become a leader in self-checkout solutions, in addition to the ATM market. The company plans to expand its market share with products tailored to customers around the world, including by actively promoting cash-enabled JetCheck™ in the United States, where cash transactions remain common.
