Taihan Cable & Solution announced on the 25th that its U.S. sales subsidiary, T.E. USA, had signed a major long-term contract worth 190 billion won in the eastern United States. It is the largest project the company has won in the U.S. and one of its biggest overseas contracts ever.

Including this contract, Taihan Cable & Solution has secured about 520 billion won in new orders in the U.S. this year alone. That figure has already far surpassed the 400 billion won in orders it secured during all of 2022—its best year since entering North America—setting a new U.S. record in just six months.

The company will supply a full range of extra-high-voltage grid materials, including 138-kV and 345-kV cables and accessories, for a project replacing aging power lines with new infrastructure to meet surging electricity demand in the eastern United States.

More than 50% of the U.S. underground power grid is over 40 years old, the point at which replacement is typically due. Electricity use is also rising rapidly, driven by advances in AI and semiconductors, increasing the need to replace aging infrastructure. Taihan Cable & Solution has continued to win business in this market and expects the major contract to lead to additional orders.

Late last year, Taihan Cable & Solution won a project in New York, showcasing products designed for aging-grid replacement and patented technology. In March this year, it also won a turnkey project worth about 110 billion won to replace aging power lines in Florida.
