TechTaka Co., Ltd., operator of the integrated logistics platform Argo, announced that it has established a U.S. subsidiary in Seattle and is making a full-scale entry into the North American logistics market.
TechTaka has recently been building global logistics infrastructure to expand Argo’s services worldwide, including air and sea freight, local logistics centers, and Amazon FBA services. It is also strengthening its global capabilities by hiring Senior Vice President Chan-pil Jung, who led overseas market expansion projects at Amazon.
The U.S. subsidiary is a key part of TechTaka’s strategy to take Argo’s global fulfillment services to the next level. Drawing on information it gathers directly about logistics infrastructure, import and export systems, and policy trends, the company plans to develop logistics strategies tailored to local conditions and deliver optimized local services.
TechTaka’s U.S. subsidiary will help Korean sellers enter the U.S. market smoothly by handling advance approvals and permits, from complex export clearance procedures to △Food and Drug Administration (FDA) registration and approval △product labeling reviews △deferred customs duties. It will also provide immediate support for issues that arise locally.
In particular, under the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act (MoCRA), which took effect last July, TechTaka’s U.S. subsidiary will serve as a qualified U.S. Agent for small and midsize K-beauty companies. It will provide the U.S. address and contact information required on cosmetic labels and handle communications with the FDA related to adverse event reports.
TechTaka plans to build a logistics network in key overseas hubs, including its U.S. subsidiary and locations in Japan, and use it to enhance Argo’s services. It aims to offer fulfillment services for both domestic e-commerce sellers and sellers shipping products from overseas to Korean consumers.
Since launching its fulfillment service in 2021 with a proprietary logistics system, Argo has secured numerous e-commerce sellers as clients, including well-known Korean and international brands such as LocknLock and Nongshim Kellogg. In about three years, it has grown into an integrated global logistics solution that reliably handles both domestic and international shipping.
“From FDA registration to the recently revised MoCRA, it is difficult for sellers to handle U.S. requirements directly from Korea,” said TechTaka CEO Su-young Yang. “TechTaka will focus on handling the necessary procedures locally to minimize trial and error and lower the high barriers Korean companies face when entering the U.S. market.”
