Hyundai Motor Group said on the 10th that it signed a strategic partnership with NVIDIA to drive mobility innovation on the 9th at Fontainebleau Las Vegas in Nevada.
Hyundai Motor Group is applying AI technology across a range of areas, including manufacturing.
The group is actively building technological capabilities in advanced fields using generative AI and other technologies. It is also upgrading its global manufacturing capabilities by building E-FOREST, a smart factory ecosystem that applies innovative automation methods such as AI and robotics.
Through the partnership, Hyundai Motor Group plans to make key mobility solutions, including software-defined vehicles (SDVs) and robotics, more intelligent and expand the use of AI across its business operations.
In particular, the group plans to use NVIDIA’s Omniverse digital twin platform to simulate the construction and operation of new factories in virtual environments, improving manufacturing efficiency and quality while reducing costs.
Hyundai Motor Group will also use NVIDIA’s accelerated computing hardware and generative AI development tools to establish a framework for training AI models securely on vast amounts of data. It will use this framework to develop AI applications needed across its value chain.
The group will also work with NVIDIA to develop AI-powered robots using NVIDIA’s Isaac robotics platform and build virtual environments for robot training.
“Hyundai Motor Group is pursuing innovative initiatives using AI in a range of fields, including robotics, autonomous driving and smart factories,” said Kim Heung-soo, head of Hyundai Motor Group’s Global Strategy Office (GSO). “Through our collaboration with NVIDIA, we will strengthen and accelerate these innovations and become a leading company in future mobility.”
“Generative AI, software platforms and accelerated computing hardware are ushering in a new era of mobility,” said Rishi Dhall, vice president of automotive at NVIDIA. “This partnership will give Hyundai Motor Group the tools to build safer, more intelligent vehicles, strengthen its manufacturing capabilities with greater efficiency and quality, and develop innovative robotics technologies.”
