LIG Nex1 has joined forces with U.S. tech company Shield AI, a leader in AI-powered autonomous operations, to advance its capabilities in developing key solutions optimized for future battlefields, including manned-unmanned teaming and autonomous operations systems.

On the 28th, LIG Nex1 signed a “comprehensive MOU on developing joint solutions tailored to future battlefields” with Shield AI at the International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition (MADEX 2025), being held at BEXCO in Busan. Attendees included LIG Nex1 CEO Shin Ik-hyun and Shield AI co-founder and CEO Brandon Tseng.

Under the MOU, the two companies will explore and pursue various forms of cooperation, including integrating LIG Nex1 mission equipment—such as weapons systems and sensors—with Shield AI’s unmanned platforms; developing autonomous operations systems optimized for manned-unmanned mission environments; and jointly pursuing global markets.

As weapons systems based on hyperintelligence, hyperconnectivity, and hyperconvergence rapidly advance, led by manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T), developing the operational solutions and platform integration capabilities needed to support them has become a key defense-sector priority.

LIG Nex1 plans to leverage Shield AI’s proven AI platform alongside its expertise in unmanned systems, guided weapons, and surveillance and reconnaissance to lead R&D on future weapons systems suited to the evolving battlefield.
