Content First, a content company led by CEO Bang Sun-young, announced on the 23rd that Tappytoon, its global webtoon platform, won first place in the People’s Voice category for Entertainment, Sports & Events at the 30th Webby Awards.
Known as the “Oscars of the internet,” the Webby Awards are a global digital awards program organized by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) since 1996. They recognize innovation and impact in digital services and content worldwide. This year, more than 13,000 entries were submitted from over 70 countries. Past winners have included global companies such as Google, Netflix, Apple and Amazon. In 2025, Samsung Electronics won for its Olympic campaign documentary “Open Always Wins.”
Tappytoon took first place in the Entertainment People’s Voice category, a global vote, beating prominent North American entertainment apps such as Yahoo Sports and Eventbrite. It was also named an Honoree in the Best Visual Design - Function category.
Building on its carefully curated webtoons and web novels, Tappytoon has enhanced the user experience (UX) and expanded the reach of its story IP into video, publishing and merchandise. Its intuitive interface conveys the narratives and emotional nuances of genres including romance fantasy, BL, action and drama, reducing the browsing fatigue associated with serialized content while deepening reader engagement. The platform has also strengthened both functionality and polish with visual design optimized for mobile, tablet and web environments.
“In the year of our 10th anniversary, this global award recognizes the value of our platform and stories. It is especially meaningful to reaffirm the unity and influence of the global fandom we have built over the years by championing Korean webtoons and web novels,” said Ernest Woo, chief strategy officer (CSO) of Content First. “We will continue to refine our curation and service design to bring the appeal of webtoons and web novels to readers around the world more effectively.”
