New York-based alternative investment manager New Mountain Capital, LLC (“New Mountain” or the “Company”), a market leader, announced that it will open a new office in Seoul.

The Seoul office builds on New Mountain’s growing presence in Asia, including its Tokyo office, and reflects the firm’s ongoing commitment to strengthening relationships with clients in Korea.

The Seoul office will be led by Managing Director Sang Myung Lee, who joined New Mountain in February 2026. He will focus on business development in Korea and across the Asia-Pacific region. Before joining New Mountain, Lee spent 13 years at Korea Investment Corporation (KIC), Korea’s sovereign wealth fund, where he made primary, secondary, and co-investments in private equity, venture capital, and private credit. He worked with leading general partners and limited partners worldwide and served as a strategist in KIC’s private equity investment division. He also served on the external investment committees of two Korean institutional investors. Lee will report to Managing Director Andrew Barous, who leads New Mountain’s Asia business from Tokyo. He will further expand the firm’s client services in Asia alongside Managing Director Yuuki Akasu, who focuses on Japanese client relations from the Tokyo office.

Adam Weinstein, New Mountain’s president and chief operating officer, said, “We are pleased to open a Seoul office, building on our longstanding partnerships in Korea. We have established successful partnerships with outstanding local institutions in Korea, and we are confident that our focused investment strategy in ‘defensive growth’ industries will continue to resonate strongly with investors in Korea and around the world.”

Founded in 1999, New Mountain manages approximately $60 billion in assets across private equity, credit, and real estate net lease strategies. Since its founding, the firm has focused on building exceptional businesses across carefully selected non-cyclical sectors and has consistently delivered strong investment performance. As New Mountain expands its presence in Korea and across Asia, it will continue to focus its investment activity on North American middle-market companies with defensive growth profiles.

Managing Director Andrew Barous said, “We began building institutional relationships in Asia, including Korea, more than 20 years ago, and now work with more than 70 LP partners in the region. We look forward to strengthening our relationships in Korea through the opening of the Seoul office and building on our Tokyo office to reinforce our presence throughout the Asia-Pacific region.”

Managing Director Sang Myung Lee said, “Opening the Seoul office is an important step in expanding our presence in Asia, and I am honored to lead this effort alongside Andrew Barous. I am especially pleased that establishing a local office will enable us to offer our Korean partners stronger collaboration while continuing to grow our presence across the Asia-Pacific region.”
