Hyundai Motor Group was named Automaker of the Year at the 2026 AutoTech Awards, held on the 2nd (local time) at the Vibe Credit Union Showplace in Novi, Michigan.

The AutoTech Awards, organized by global ICT (information and communications technology) research firm Informa, recognize innovative technologies and companies in the automotive and mobility sectors, including AI, connectivity, software, safety, and the connected-car ecosystem.

The judges said Hyundai Motor Group was selected as Automaker of the Year for being named World Car of the Year for three consecutive years, operating an innovative dedicated EV platform, developing an 800-volt (V) ultra-fast charging system, and earning IIHS Top Safety Pick+ ratings and various design awards.

Hyundai Motor America (HMA) previously won Automaker of the Year in 2021 and 2024, but this is the first time Hyundai Motor Group has received the award.

Hyundai Motor Group plans to continue improving EV platform performance, safety standards, and design excellence while accelerating its software-defined vehicle (SDV) strategy and expanding its connected mobility capabilities in global markets.

The 2026 AutoTech Awards were held alongside the 2026 Wards 10 Best Interiors & UX awards, presented by U.S. automotive publication WardsAuto.

The AutoTech Awards’ Automaker of the Year award was called OEM of the Year until last year.
